Oranges are one of the most delightful flavours and colours to work with in baking. They lend depth of flavour without being overly sweet.

In this month's cake I have used the juice, zest and peel of some delightful oranges from KZN, and, sandwiched between the layers, oozes blackberry and bay leaf jam that I made with blackberries grown by my brother-in-law in Botriver, and a dollop of cream. The cake is finished off with a wrapping of orange and vanilla buttercream. (Bonus: extra blackberry coulis to squeeze over your cake slice included!)

This month's cakes are available in TWO sizes:
Double layer 18cm cake (serves 4-6 people)
Triple layer 18cm cake (serves 6-8 people)

Old school vanilla sponge cake made with fresh orange zest, juice, and vanilla extract and beautiful free range eggs. The cake's layers are sandwiched together with small-batch (homemade) blackberry and bay leaf jam with a dollop of cream. Last, but not least, the cake is wrapped up in an orange and vanilla buttercream and garnished with candied orange and bay leaf.

Orders close on each Wednesday for the coming Friday, so make sure to place your order for this month’s cake timeously!

When can I order the bake of the month?

Orders are open up until the Wednesday before the Friday in question. Make sure to choose your cake date with care!

Can you deliver my order?

For our cake options we offer deliver for local Cape Town addresses only. The delivery fee is calculated by area.

Please reach out via email if you would like to enquire about delivery outside of local Cape Town areas.

Can I collect my order?

Yes, there are 3 collection points currently available in Cape Town: Hout Bay and City Centre. When you place your order, please choose your collection point and make sure to take note of the collection times!
